TEAM TALK: POLLY MACIS
There’s a lot that happens at Synergy that never makes it onto the schedule. Beyond the sessions and structured moments, it’s the people behind the scenes who shape how everything feels, holding the detail, the flow and the experience as a whole.
At the centre of that is Polly Macis, PA to Synergy Founder, Laura Montesanti & Event Co-Ordinator. From the earliest stages of planning through to the final moments onsite, and everything that follows, she is the thread that keeps it all moving. Quietly orchestrating the detail, supporting the team, and ensuring nothing slips, Polly plays a pivotal role in bringing Synergy to life. Here, she shares a little more about her world, what grounds her, and the perspective she brings to the work we do.
Q: What drew you to Synergy and excites you most about your role?
What drew me to Synergy was its focus on creating meaningful experiences that support wellbeing and connection. I love working behind the scenes to help ideas come to life, and this role allows me to do exactly that - supporting Laura while coordinating events that leave a real, positive impact. Being part of a team that values intention, balance and thoughtful travel genuinely excites me.
Q: What value or daily practice do you bring to your work?
I bring reliability, care and a calm energy to my work. My daily practice is to stay grounded, organised and attentive to both people and details, knowing that these small, steady actions contribute to creating experiences that feel safe, nurturing and well-considered.
Q: What kind of traveler are you?
Right now, I’m a traveler in theory more than in practice. Life with a young family keeps me close to home, but I love living vicariously through the beautiful events we create, and I know my turn for slower mornings and far-flung destinations is still ahead!
Q: Favourite country that you have travelled to?
Bali.
Q: Do you have a favourite hotel or property?
I wouldn’t say I have a single favourite, I’ve been fortunate to work at and experience some truly exceptional properties. Internationally, that includes icons such as The Savoy in London, The Breakers in Palm Beach and the Hôtel Ritz in Paris. Closer to home, I’ve also been lucky to enjoy the tranquillity of the Gilpin Hotel in the Lake District, which offers a very different but equally memorable experience.
Q: What keeps you grounded and centred?
Between busy family life and work, I’d say my grounding practice is a mix of deep breaths, coffee, and the occasional “just breathe” mantra! But truly, nature and time with loved ones keeps me centred and reminds me what matters most.
Q: What’s most shaped your approach to wellbeing and personal growth?
My approach to wellbeing has been shaped a lot by my team at Synergy. They’ve shown me that it’s okay to pause, take a moment for myself, and prioritize self-care—even amidst a busy life. That encouragement has really shifted how I think about balance and personal growth. It’s a new way of thinking for me, but I am determined to embrace it.
