WATER WISDOM: LESSONS FROM ATLANTIS

A Journey of Healing by Fabian Atlantis, Water Therapist.

Here I was lying on the floor at a men’s retreat, falling into a deep meditative state trying to connect with my spirit animal. I had zero expectations back then as I had little exposure to shamanic practices, or meditation, so when a dolphin appeared in my inner vision, I was genuinely surprised.

A dolphin? Why a dolphin?

I questioned it, but at the same time, it felt right.

Over the weeks and months that followed, my awareness of dolphins grew. I started to identify more with them, started seeing them everywhere in my life and began to feel more and more connected to their spirit. When I later watched a campaign video about dolphins being caught as bycatch in the Mediterranean Sea, I felt a deep pull in heart - a clear inner call to go and save them.

A few months later, I found myself on a research vessel in the middle of the Egyptian Red Sea, volunteering with an incredibly dedicated group of Swiss marine biologists. One of my roles was to enter the sea once dolphins were spotted and observe their behaviour

It’s hard to put into words what that felt like, but I knew I had found what I had been seeking. I’ll never forget the moment I joined a pod as they swam through the water together in formation. For the first time in my life, I felt like I had come home. The privilege of bonding with these majestic beings is something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my days — and beyond.

And yet, after three months in the Red Sea, a deeper truth surfaced. Saving dolphins meant very little if I wasn’t willing to do my own inner work. I had to ask myself honestly: had I really come here to save them, or was this journey about finding my own inner peace?

I decided to move to a little beach town in the Egyptian desert and fully immerse myself into the sea and its teachings. I began freediving with a coach — a practice that taught me how to face fear, build trust, and truly listen to my body. The feeling of free-falling on a single breathhold into the abyss is hard to explain. It requires presence, restraint and trust — not just in the water, but in yourself.

Alongside the sea, I explored somatic practices and inner child healing with an incredible practitioner who had devoted her life to this work. These experiences were deeply transformational, and with my entrepreneurial spirit, I felt called to share them with others.

I began organising retreats for burnt-out, stressed people searching for healing and inner peace. By then, I’d already been in Egypt for a year and had no desire to return to my old life. Coming from the city of Berlin, Germany, living simply in the desert by the Red Sea made me genuinely happy. I remember hiking Mount Sinai, where Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments, drinking fresh water straight from the source. From that moment on, I knew without doubt that organising retreats was my path. Not a single day passed after that without me thinking about this mission and bringing it into form.

I learned to let go of the goal-driven mindset I’d grown up with. Layer by layer, identities I’d carefully built over decades finally began to fall away.
— Fabian Atlantis

My first retreat, The Atlantis Call, took place in Egypt and brought together what I had learned: somatic work, freediving, and respectful encounters with wild dolphins. Shortly after, I trained as a somatic water therapist, a practice with roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine, where people are gently supported and floated in warm water to allow deep relaxation and release.

Throughout the training I was surprised how quickly the body responds to being safely held. Many people describe a sense of deep comfort — something familiar, almost forgotten. Some even refer to it as a rebirthing-like experience.

During one session, as a male colleague supported me in a warm saltwater pool, my body reacted in a purely instinctive way. I reached toward a sense of nourishment and safety that belonged to very early life, before thought or language. That moment made it clear just how deeply this work can reach.

Since then, I’ve worked with many people using this practice to help them release patterns that no longer serve them and reconnect with themselves in a grounded way. It’s now a core element of all my retreats, and people often tell me they hadn’t expected the depth of the experience.

I see this work as the revival of an ancient healing technology, something that once belonged to Atlantis, just like many of the tools we use today. From initiations in the Amazon with indigenous tribes to private ceremonies in the temples of Ancient Egypt, the thread is always the same: remembering who we are. In the Great Pyramids of Giza, we activate our voices through humming inside a granite structure — a vibration that can shift lives and remind us of our oneness with the divine.

Today, my mission is clearer than ever: to share the medicine of water and help raise global consciousness, one person at a time. I truly believe we need to heal inwardly as a species if we want to create meaningful change in the world we inherited from our ancestors.

I now run retreats around the globe focused on somatic water therapy, sound, and shamanic practices that awaken our innate human potential. We also support local initiatives in Egypt and the Amazon — projects that empower nature-based healing and the emergence of a new world.

All of this comes from a vision of creating a new, loving kingdom — one inspired by Atlantis, one that places nature first.

Will you join me on this mission?

I’d love that. We need more allies on this path.

YOUR 2-3 MINUTE WATER-BASED SOMATIC RESET

The next time you come into contact with water — whether in the shower, a bath, the sea, a river, or even while drinking a glass of water — allow it to become a moment of conscious connection.

Begin by pausing for a few seconds. Feel your body exactly as it is. Notice your breath, the weight of your feet, and the sensations on your skin.

Set a simple intention, silently or out loud, such as: “I allow water to support my release and renewal.”

As the water touches you, bring your attention to the physical sensations: temperature, pressure, movement. Let your breath soften. Imagine the water gently washing through your body, not just on the surface, but through your tissues, muscles, and nervous system.

If you are drinking water, take a slow sip and feel it move through your throat and chest, imagining it carrying clarity and calm into you.

Without forcing anything, invite the water to take what you no longer need — tension, heaviness, emotional residue. Simply allow.

When you’re ready, take one final breath and offer a quiet thank-you.

Return to your day a little lighter, a little more present.
